Resilient Architecture

Resilient architecture arises from the desire of comparing innovative strategies and interventions concerning adaptive buildings in sustainable building, with nearly zero energy, with particular reference to the building envelope, through the use of biomimetic smart materials for the second skin of buildings.

The aim is to spread knowledge through scientific research, best practices and case studies, in the context of adaptive materials and innovative technologies applied and applicable to residential, commercial, museum buildings in ancient and contemporary contexts.

GREEN TECHNOLOGY

The importance of natural resources

Every year, urban overheating and pollution produce three million victims worldwide and heat waves will continue to rise with the exponential increase of city dwellers.

In fact, within the next 40 years, the majority of the world’s population will live in urban areas and architecture will have to collaborate in a decisive way with nature, to cope with the different housing needs of man with sustainable solutions.

Case Studies

Good green practices

The American Association for the Advancement of science’s recent study on shocking figures about the effects of air pollution. Only in 2013, smog has caused 5.5 million premature deaths, killing as a world war. And the fact that more than half of the deaths are located in India and china does not mean that things in the other half of the world are better.

Computational design for adaptive facades

Some of the contemporary experiments and studies for parametric architecture demonstrate the level of potential development of smart adaptive facades, thanks to the exploitation of the computational design. Through this approach, it is possible to translate the aspect of multifunctionality that is in nature into architecture.

Computational design for Architecture

Bioclimatic architecture design solutions are implemented more efficiently through digital technology, such as computational design, also called parametric modeling. We already know that bioclimatic architecture solutions are inspired by the knowledge of the functioning mechanisms of organisms found in nature. The aim is to imitate their behavior and exploit their potential applied to architectural creations …
